Winmail Viewer collects no data. The app opens winmail.dat (TNEF) files entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and it never transmits your files, messages, or any personal information off your device.

Data we collect

None. Winmail Viewer does not collect, store on our servers, sell, rent, or share any personal information. We have no servers that receive your data, because the app never sends any.

How the app works

When you open a winmail.dat file, all decoding and display happen locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The contents — attachments, message text, calendar invitations, contacts, and tasks — are read directly from the file you opened and are never uploaded. When you close the file, nothing about it is retained by the app beyond the standard "recent files" list stored locally on your own device, which you can clear at any time.

Files you open

You choose which files Winmail Viewer opens. The app reads them from your device (or from files you explicitly select or share to it) and processes them in memory. It does not scan your device, index your files, or access anything you don't hand to it.

Reminders and Calendar (EventKit)

If you tap Add to Reminders (or add an enclosed event or contact), the app asks your operating system for permission and writes that single item to your local Reminders, Calendar, or Contacts through Apple's system frameworks. This happens entirely on your device, at your request, and only for the item you chose. Winmail Viewer does not read your existing reminders, events, or contacts, and it never transmits any of this data.

Network access

Winmail Viewer makes no network connections of its own — nothing is uploaded and nothing is downloaded. To display HTML message bodies it uses the system web view, which is locked down to block every remote request: remote images, web fonts, scripts, and tracking pixels embedded in a message are prevented from loading before they can reach the network.

Analytics, advertising, and third parties

There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising, and no third-party code that collects information about you. We do not use tracking of any kind, and we do not share data with third parties — because we don't collect any.

Children's privacy

Winmail Viewer does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages in this respect.

Data retention and deletion

Because no data is collected or transmitted, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Any local data (such as the recent-files list) lives only on your device and is removed when you clear it or delete the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version here. Material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
